•  1 Corinthians 1: 10-18 was used for the Dwelling in the Word text

•  many Board/committee reports were received:

•  Lyn shared information regarding the 500th Reformation anniversary meeting that Good Shepherd hosted; it was very positive with the next meeting scheduled for Mar 4

•  Allyn presented the 3 suggestions that will go forward as the goals for the Gifts and Memorial funds once some funds accumulate

•  Cheryl presented the costs and details that went into preparing adequate sound quality while we worship in the lower fireside room

•  the Trustees have a plan to move forward soon with the repair of the kitchen cupboards in the lower fireside room

•  the Deacons appreciate the change in the prayers of the people format with Pastor Tom and the song leader leading the prayers while we’re out of the sanctuary

•  Arnold reported on the steady progress being made on the sanctuary renovations. We learned that some additional costs will be needed to repair the organ. Executive council will draft a policy covering the proper use of the sanctuary walls and windows.

•  the AGM will be held in the lower fireside room after a soup and bun lunch during coffee fellowship. The bulletin of reports for the AGM should be available to members by Sunday February 12.

•  Arnold reported on the income and expenses for January in his treasurer’s report and gave some yearend results as well.

•  Pastor Tom reported on his activities of visiting shut ins and seniors, his sessions with the youth confirmands, and the many activities around Advent. He is meeting with the Worship and Arts committee already to plan services for when we return to the sanctuary.

•  Allyn reported that some members have agreed to specific duties to help with the 60th anniversary celebrations of our church. A meeting will be called soon.

•  Dan reported that the MCC was very pleased with the cold, but positive neighbourhood caroling held prior to Christmas. They continue to meet and plan; their next meeting is in Brooks at the end of February.

•  Upcoming dates to keep in mind include:      

   -March 25 day session to review the document “A Study of Orders of Ministry in the ELCIC.

•  We are hoping to include a planning and goal setting session for council as well.                          

-May 27-28 – 60th anniversary celebrations for Good Shepherd     

-May 28 in the evening in Brooks – “Ponder Anew” – supper with Bishop Larry and an opportunity to listen to stories of God’s work in and around the Synod     

-June 11 – Sunday afternoon 2 – 8 – church picnic at Kinsmen Picnic shelter in Coaldale
