At its regular meeting this month, your council studied the section of the “Flourishing Congregations” survey responses focussing on the “Outward” portion. Our responses reflect our little struggles with being overtly evangelical. On the other hand, we are having success with our connection with Paterson School as an example of an “outward” activity. In this regard, the Missional Group is eager to include a few more Good Shepherd members.
Once again, we hope that you consider the PAR program of automatic donations. It’s very easy to enroll and equally easy to adjust the amounts if need be. (See Tina in the office.) The regularity and predictability is helpful to you and to the congregation.
The Worship Committee is very pleased with the series of Sundays featuring the “Season of Creation”. At their recent meeting, they planned for our Advent season.
Council is considering purchasing some accounting software.
A Phone Tree has been set up to quickly connect with members, notably those that don’t use email.
The Annual General Meeting is set for February 23, 2020.
On Nov. 3 after the service, Cheryl Berg will share some of the highlights of the National Convention.
On Sunday October 27, council held a special meeting while the Pot Luck Dinner was happening. We approved a draft of our new constitution so that it could be forwarded to the synod review committee who met this last week of October. If they suggest any edits, we’ll fix those and then present the document to you. The approval process will take a couple of meetings at least a month apart.
At this same meeting, we considered several quotes for the updating of our fire alarm system. We still have some questions and will ask for more clarity on what is required.
